Road Trip - Part 3

After leaving Charleston, we drove to Columbia, SC to visit DH's sister and his Dad.  It was good to see them and just visit for a few days.  While there, we had the best BBQ and hash around!  And, I managed to restrain myself and actually get a picture!  We ate at Piggie Park not once, but twice.  Sure wish we could have brought some back with us!  I just found out that I will be in Columbia and Charleston near the end of February, so Piggie Park here I come for more!!

Then, we went about an hour north to Newberry, SC.  My Mama's family is from there and we visited some cemeteries and I got pics of grandparents and great grandpartents graves for my genealogy research.  Since there wasn't much time to prepare for the trip, I really didn't have all the info with me and the directions to everything I wanted to see.  Thus, the trip planned for Feb.  I hope to be more organized at that time!

Then, on up the highway at Spartanburg, SC, we stopped for a bite at The Beacon Drive In.  Actually the burger was huge so we split one and the plate of fries and onion rings were enough for an army!!

Of course we had to visit a Piggly Wiggly!  Got lots of pics of things we just don't see here.  Green peanuts being one item.

It seems that all or most of these trip pics revolve around food!

Thanks for stopping by!

Hi Mary....I live in Columbia and enjoyed reading your post. If you are looking for good BBQ, check out True BBQ in West Columbia (not too far from Piggie Park). I've tried a lot of BBQ and they have the best hash and rice hands down.

Love the Pig too....happy stitching.

Thanks for sharing your trip. You made me hungry for good Bar-B-Que. The Pacific NW is not known for that! My husband has done lots of genealogy. He needs to make a trip to NC sometime to get more information about his family. We have mine back to the Revolution!

Sounds like you had a blast.

And you know you are in the South when you see "The Pig" (Piggly Wiggly).

And of course boiled peanuts, grits, sweet ices tea...and lets not forget about the chicken and biscuits (that's right, biscuits not waffles, this Southern Belle eats waffles for breakfast, not with chicken!).

Hugs and blessings
