TUSAL 1/2013

For my "current" WIPs, I prefer to stitch from boxes.  Since I stitch in different areas, it's just easier for me to take the lid off and have everything ready to stitch.  Usually in each box you'll find all the threads, extra needles, scissors, a highlighter, pair of glasses, and a tin to keep ORTS.

This box happens to have emergency food for when I left the house yesterday!!

So, to prepare for the first picture of the 2013 TUSAL, I collected all ORTS from the tins and here they are...a lot of green from Quaker Christmas, and some various colors from Blessings Be Thine and The Yellow House Sampler.  May I present my January 2013 ORT collection:

I have saved ORTs for several years and just stuffed them into a vase and kept it on my bookshelf because they looked pretty...

Great organizing! My ORT jar was almost full when it got knocked off the table by my DH and broke!! I haven't had the heart to get another one started.

Love the way you have everything organized even down to a energy bar for when you just can't stop stitching to eat :-D Pretty good looking orts too!

What a wonderful way to organize all of your stitching things.

I work in much the same way. My boxes have a shallow top tray which sits high enough to have linen, charts etc stored below and have little divisions to store needles, scissors etc. I saw myself with pretty baskets and ribbons and stuff, but they just don't work as well as these boxes! Irene xxx

You inspired me to get organized and make my own travel bag, what a great idea...thanks Mary :)
Your January ORT collection is so pretty, and your bookshelf vase is gorgeous and full of so many wonderful colors.
I love your WIP too!
Thanks for visiting my blog and becoming a new friend, you have a beautiful blog.

I really like your 'box' kit idea.
Hope to get some finishes done, too!

I use boxes for my large WIPs, gallon plastic bags (yes I know all the reasons you shouldn't, but...) for all the others. Do like the idea of individual ORT collectors in each project box and your full jar is very colorful.
