In Charleston, I visited my 91 year old aunt - hadn't seen her in about 3 years. We also rode around to see the houses we lived in as kids and when first married, as well as schools, churches, and some memorable landmarks of our youth!
Even though the BBQ is good here in OK, there is just nothing like Carolina BBQ with rice and hash!! Here is a pic of my empty plate - too hungry to remember to take that pic! Sooooo good! This was from Bessinger's BBQ.
A great BBQ place we used to go to when we lived in Charleston is Duke's in North Charleston. It's actually still there and only open on the weekends, so we didn't make it this trip. It sure doesn't look like much, but the food used to be fabulous! There were picnic tables with old red/white check oilcloth tablecloths, a loaf or two of white bread on each table, all the BBQ, rice, and hash you could eat and as much sweet iced tea you could drink and a line of people out the door!!
While at my aunt's, I got some pics of 2 stitched pieces I had done for her a long time ago...1978 to be exact! Of course back then no pics were taken. I still have the charts, so was able to get the info.
